# MDOT CTP Tour with Queen Anne's County Commissioners || 10/27/2026

MDOT’s Consolidated Transportation Program (CTP) tour with the Queen Anne’s County Commissioners, held October 27, 2026, reviewed a proposed six-year, $21.9 billion statewide capital program and local transportation needs. MDOT reported that work continues on the $7.3 million replacement of the US 301 South Bridge over MD 290, with completion expected next fall. The Kent Island ramp-management project has received a notice to proceed for design-build work, while the MD 405 J-turn and partial crossover closure are in design through 2028; construction funding has not yet been secured. Other announced funding included $550,000 in grants for local transit operations and a new small bus, more than $115,000 in local highway-safety grants, $3.5 million for statewide aviation grants in FY2027 (including $36,000 for stormwater mitigation at Kmore Air Park), and $2 million for oyster restoration this fiscal year, with $2.25–$5 million in each out-year of the CTP. The Bay Bridge’s preferred alternative is expected to be published in November; MDTA said a construction start in 2032 is a best-case scenario and that financing and toll options remain to be evaluated.

Commissioners and Eastern Shore legislators raised concerns about road and bridge maintenance funding, Bay Bridge approaches and congestion, the unfunded MD 405 construction phase, toll collections and penalties, and transit’s share of transportation revenues. MDOT said it would continue pursuing funding for the safety project and proposed, for the third year, legislation establishing objective, mode- and region-neutral criteria for prioritizing transportation investments. Legislators also reviewed a county request list that included detention-center replacement, US 301/MD 405 safety improvements, school capital projects, and ramp-management expansion, and discussed the need for local support at bill hearings. No contract awards, procurement approvals, or votes on spending were identified.
