# MOUNT VERNON BOARD OF EDUCATION REGULAR BUSINESS MEETING OCTOBER 27 2026

The Mount Vernon City School District Board of Education held its regular business meeting on October 27, 2026. The board received a financial report showing a month-end cash balance of $60.6 million and $40 million in committed purchase orders. District staff reported that invoice controls prevented a suspected fraudulent payment of more than $100,000 and said new purchase orders would face increased scrutiny, with a possible soft freeze expected in November. The board also heard a presentation on proposed Code of Conduct revisions; no adoption vote was reported. The policy committee said purchasing would be discussed at a future meeting.

In an IDA report, trustees said an inducement resolution was approved for a retail-center project, with an agreement being developed for the project to support part of the district’s career and technical education program. A separate Library Square proposal—a 138-unit rental project offering the district $875,000 upfront—did not receive an inducement resolution after a projected loss of more than $6 million was cited. The Alexander Group’s proposed 348-unit project at 140 East Prospect sought a 30-year PILOT, but its application was incomplete and no approval was reported. The meeting also covered school programs, facilities access, family engagement, and district updates; no other procurement awards were identified.
