# Rochester School Board Business Meeting 8-26-26

The Rochester School Board’s August 26, 2026 business meeting included adoption of the 2026–27 budget and approval of budget extensions. The adopted general-fund plan projects just over $42 million in revenue and $42.7 million in expenditures, with an ending balance of 3.8%; the board also approved a general-fund extension allowing spending up to $42.9 million. The capital-projects extension adds about $200,000 to the previously budgeted $575,000 for current-year work, primarily because of the new water system and the timing of expenditures before capital-levy revenue begins in spring 2027. The capital-projects budget includes $4.4 million in expenditures. The board approved resolution 2615 adopting the 2026–27 budget and resolutions 2614 and 2613 for the general-fund and capital-projects extensions, respectively.

The board approved AHBL for engineering design work on the district’s new water system. The superintendent reported that eight of 250 tested water fixtures exceeded the stated lead threshold; the district is coordinating replacements with plumbers and expects an OSPI grant to cover replacement fixtures. The board also approved a three-year Rochester Education Association collective bargaining agreement, accepted donations including $1,000 for middle-school art supplies and cross-country uniforms, and approved surplus items including old Chromebooks. The budget presentation noted that salaries and benefits are the largest expenditure areas and that the district expects to review potential reductions for 2027–28.
