# MASD Board Meeting - July 20, 2026

The Mill A School District Board held a public budget hearing and regular meeting on July 20, 2026. The board adopted the 2026–27 budget and four-year plan by a 4–0 vote. The budget projects an approximately $35,000 operating deficit, plus a planned $200,000 transfer from the general fund to capital projects; the projected capital-projects revenue includes a $387,000 state grant. The board also reviewed a technology-refresh plan proposing about $20,000 annually and noted a purchase of 28 laptops for PCIA students and staff. It approved a contract for cook Madison Butcher and other classified employee contracts. The transportation vehicle fund includes $154,000 budgeted for a possible vehicle purchase; the presentation noted that state law now allows eligible student-transport vans to be included.

For the roof-repair project, the board approved issuing an intent to award to WeatherGuard, identified as the lowest base bidder. This was not final approval of the construction contract: required bidder-compliance checks, contract and insurance review, and the waiting period remained. The $387,000 grant may not cover both the base bid and optional additional roof work, and the district was pursuing possible additional funding. The board also discussed a forest-thinning project for safety, for which Pacific Coast Forestry Services had solicited bids and received one response; the estimated district net proceeds were $30,000–$45,000. Members sought to review the forest-practices permit before signing a contract, and the transcript ends before a final motion or vote on that project.
