# October 27, 2026 School Board Meeting

The Chambersburg Area School District Board of Directors held its regular meeting on October 27, 2026. The board approved a revision to the 2026 general obligation bond by a 9–0 roll-call vote, described as providing additional cushion near a financing threshold. Board members also discussed the Camp South capital project and questioned differing estimates of $115 million, $120 million, and $125 million plus contingency. The board president proposed a public, regularly updated dashboard showing a few key design, construction, and management figures for each building project; members supported exploring a simple, accurate, and accessible format.

The board tabled consent item 6.11, a roughly $6.2 million special-education budget transfer, until the next meeting so administrators can provide a fuller program and cost review. Discussion covered rising special-education enrollment and costs, contracted staffing, and whether some services could be provided in-house; no vote on the transfer was taken. Other procurement- or funding-related items included approval of a $10,000 donated kiln for the high school, discussion of studying the cost-effectiveness of an employee on-site health clinic, and a report that the Franklin County Career and Technology Center received a $500,000 Pennsylvania Department of Transportation grant to explore a heavy-equipment program. The grant does not yet approve the program. A possible school-property battery-storage arrangement was also raised for further inquiry, with no decision made.
