# Defense Agencies Accelerate Autonomy Acquisition

Defense and intelligence organizations are seeking to move autonomy and AI capabilities from concept to deployment faster by shortening acquisition cycles and shifting toward commercial technologies, software-driven mission services, and continuous integration instead of one-time hardware purchases. The signals identify opportunities in interoperable software, multi-domain autonomy, intelligence data fusion, and space-based capabilities, but describe no specific solicitation, contract value, or procurement timeline. The Professional Services Council has announced an autonomy and AI conference for October 30, 2026, and an intelligence-focused forum in January.

- Contractors can align offerings around interoperable software, autonomy across domains, intelligence data fusion, and space-based capabilities—the opportunity areas identified in the signals.
- Procurement and program teams may need acquisition and sustainment approaches that support faster software updates and continuous integration, rather than relying solely on hardware-centered, one-time buys.
- The PSC autonomy and AI conference is scheduled for October 30, 2026, two days from the current date; the signal also notes an intelligence-focused forum in January but provides no exact date.
