# This Is the City of Montebello Traffic & Safety Commission Meeting (10/26/26)

The City of Montebello Traffic & Safety Commission met on October 26, 2026. The commission approved an updated letter recommending a crossing guard at South 5th Street and West Los Angeles Avenue; staff said crossing guards are paid $19.50 per hour, with the total cost undetermined pending scheduling. It also approved five feet of red curb at South Park Street and West Los Angeles Avenue to improve alley sight distance, and two 18-foot blue-curb accessible parking requests at 320 Morris Place and 425 North 16th Street. The latter installation was estimated at approximately $600, to be covered by the existing Public Works budget. These were traffic-safety and curb-marking decisions; no contract award, bid approval, or other procurement action was identified.

Commissioners raised concerns about speeding, collisions, and visibility at several locations, including Olympic and Austin, 2nd Street and Los Angeles Avenue, and Lincoln Avenue. Staff said a traffic study for the Marketplace Drive intersection near the Costco and In-N-Out shopping center had been approved and was in its initial stages, with results to return to the commission. The commission also voted to cancel its November meeting.
