# Danvers Accessibility Commission - 10/22/26

The Danvers Accessibility Commission discussed a proposed senior snow-removal assistance program pairing residents with students or youth volunteers. Members considered privacy-conscious sign-ups, matching and communication logistics, volunteer-hour compensation, safeguards against landlords misusing the service, and ways to reach seniors with visual or technology-access needs. A member will contact school and community partners to explore student involvement. The commission also reviewed its first Human Library event, held October 17, and discussed possible future formats, locations, training, school partnerships, and outreach; no decision on a next event was made.

The commission unanimously voted to hold its next meeting on December 3, 2026, at 6 p.m., in place of the regular November and December meetings. Members also noted concerns about inaccessible sidewalk conditions near Essex and Elm streets and discussed an accessibility video about the rail trail. A new grant and mini-grants were mentioned in connection with follow-up, but no amounts or spending decisions were provided. No contract awards, bids, vendor selections, or other procurement activity were identified.
