# 2026-09-22 School Committee Meeting

The Chariho School Committee meeting dated September 22, 2026 (metadata lists September 23) included several budget and oversight actions. The committee unanimously approved the annual virtual learning plan, which the district said costs nothing to maintain and must be submitted to RIDE; officials noted it is generally not used for snow days because household and staff internet access can be unreliable. Members also unanimously approved appointing a Wood River Health pediatric nurse practitioner as district physician. The annual budget includes $4,000 for the physician and dental services; last year, the physician charged $350 and dental screenings cost about $3,600. The committee approved bill review and budget transfers and reports. In discussion of bill review, officials described invoice controls that include department review, purchase-order creation and review, and finance-office approval before payment.

The committee received an update on the unified elementary school campus, including a project website being developed under an existing contract; a draft homepage was expected in about 10 days. Members clarified that the bond measure would follow the districtwide aggregate-vote approach under the Chariho Act, rather than requiring approval in each town separately. The committee also accepted donations, including 30 backpacks with school supplies and a donation to Chariho Tech with a stated retail value of $11,577.88. No new contract award or procurement solicitation was identified.
