# Longmont Library Advisory Board Oct. 19, 2026

The Longmont Library Advisory Board met on October 19, 2026, to discuss library services, strategic-plan goals, staffing, and budget priorities. The board recommended earlier involvement in the library budget cycle and requested follow-up on goals at risk because of staffing or funding constraints. The director reported that the City’s budget passed largely as proposed, with no additional library funding; a request for temporary, non-benefited staff funding was not approved. The library received a city fleet vehicle for outreach on a temporary basis at no cost while it awaits the ability to purchase one. No contract awards or vendor selections were reported.

A council motion proposed allocating $100,000 in ARPA interest income to business-development programming using library space and resources. The motion was adjusted to have staff develop and return with a plan, with further council discussion and votes expected; the proposed use, staffing needs, and program costs remain undetermined. The director also reported completed facility and equipment improvements under the strategic plan, including LED lighting, ADA-compliant self-check machines, and furniture replacements, and noted that additional furniture replacement remains a goal. The board scheduled a June annual board review and asked for a future update on the business-development plan.
