# APTA Proposes Transit Cybersecurity Workstreams

APTA’s Transit Cybersecurity Working Group has identified potential work for 2027 on operational technology (OT) procurement requirements, OT assessment guidance, and transit-specific AI governance and System Assurance. The workstreams are proposed for further review; they are not adopted requirements or an open solicitation. Transit agencies and contractors can use the proposed focus areas to inform planning for cybersecurity, AI oversight, and evidence of system reliability while awaiting any follow-on APTA guidance.

- Agencies and contractors should distinguish these proposals from binding requirements and avoid treating them as current solicitation terms.
- Procurement teams can assess whether planned OT purchases and assessments address the cybersecurity and reliability themes identified by the working group.
- Transit technology providers may find it useful to prepare to explain their approaches to OT cybersecurity, AI governance, and system assurance in future agency procurements.
