# Budget-Audit-Board of Review Committee Meeting

The New Orleans City Council Budget, Audit, and Board of Review Committee meeting on October 23, 2026, approved Motion M26459 by a 3–0 vote to issue new RFPs for audit contractors because existing contracts are expiring. Civil service pay plan items 5A–B were deferred to the November 19 Council meeting. The August 2026 budget report showed operating revenues about $48 million above the year-to-date budget and expenditures about $50.5 million below the spending benchmark; officials cautioned that the benchmark is not a year-end projection and reported continued overtime controls. The administration also presented 2027 budget options, including a proposed millage roll-forward to generate recurring revenue amid a projected $77 million deficit. The presentation estimated roughly $10 million in additional revenue for city operations if the relevant millages were rolled forward, but the committee took no vote on the proposal.

Officials described possible service restorations tied to additional revenue and discussed reviewing agency finances and spending needs. Youth Force NOLA reported a $500,000 city contract in 2026 that supported 224 summer interns and requested that at least that funding level be sustained for 2027; it cited a $685,000 funding gap and said corporate sponsorship alone would not cover it. No new Youth Force NOLA award or other spending authorization was approved at this meeting.
