# Sustainability Integration Board Meeting August 26, 2026

The City of Wichita Sustainability Integration Board met on August 26, 2026. Staff reported that the RFP funded by a KDHE grant to update the community resiliency plan had closed, receiving proposals from seven firms; interviews were scheduled for the following week, with selection expected after interviews. A separate KDHE solid-waste grant for compost-facility equipment and education and outreach was awaiting the city manager’s signature. The board also discussed a potential city request for information (RFI) from waste haulers on consolidated residential garbage collection. Members agreed to gather hauler pricing and service details—including recycling, container and delivery fees, and collection limits—in a shared spreadsheet by September 11 so staff could combine the information with city data. The board discussed using the findings to inform a possible future presentation to the City Council; no collection contract or vendor selection was approved, and no grant amounts were stated.

The board approved the July meeting minutes by motion and unanimous voice vote. Other updates included the Douglas Street road-diet work and a recap of Sedgwick County Commission consideration of solar proposals; neither resulted in a procurement action by this board. Members planned to continue the waste-collection research and discuss next steps at the September meeting.
