# Commission on Disability 10-21-2026

The Fall River Commission on Disability met on October 21, 2026. The commission approved, by a 3–1 vote, funding for Diamond Regional Vocational Technical High School to purchase an evacuation chair, with the school to select a model costing between approximately $3,000 and $6,500. Superintendent Brian Bentley cited the need to evacuate students with mobility limitations, noting that more than 27 students had recently needed mobility assistance. One commissioner opposed the funding, stating the purchase should come from the school’s operating budget. The commission also discussed a legal opinion on whether funds must benefit all Fall River residents; the discussion did not identify a change to that interpretation or a separate funding decision.

The commission is awaiting results on an ADA improvement grant for a sensory park and is seeking additional donations to support the project. Other updates included a September finance statement, website-hosting access and security issues being referred to a work group, and plans for an accessibility tour of Diamond Regional. No other contract awards or procurement actions were identified.
