# Community Meeting - Details on Trash Service Provider Transition to Universal Waste Systems

The Town of Fountain Hills held a community information meeting on October 22, 2026, about its waste-service provider transition to Universal Waste Systems (UWS), beginning February 1, 2027. UWS said it was selected after the Town issued an RFP and found UWS the most responsive bidder; the Republic contract ends January 31. No vote or new spending action was recorded at this meeting. UWS quoted a monthly rate of $19.98 for weekly trash and recycling service, billed quarterly and described as guaranteed for the first two years. Existing twice-weekly service for about 800 residents is expected to continue for an additional charge of approximately $7.
