# Simpson County School Board Meeting October 2026

At its October 23, 2026 meeting, the Simpson County Board of Education approved several spending and procurement-related items by voice vote. It approved the Kentucky Education Technology Funding Program offer of $36,584, with the district matching that amount; the CTE facility summary of payments No. 17 as the project winds down; and BG4 No. 25278 for Franklin-Simpson High School baseball and softball improvements, including turf fields, baseball bleachers, softball paving, and fencing. The superintendent described BG4 as a step toward project closeout, with BG5 still to come. The board also approved $400 in soccer district tournament-management fees and $600 in regional tournament-management fees, an agreement with Jay Hurt for registered behavior technician services for the school year (no contract amount stated), and an amended FY 2026–27 supplement schedule to add a basketball assistant coach whose stipend will be paid by the booster club. It approved disposal of outdated Chromebooks and the consent agenda, which included bills and salaries. The superintendent reported that Lincoln Elementary’s parking lot is open, with light poles still pending installation; no project cost was given.

The board also approved an update to its prohibited-substances policy to change testing from urine tests to oral swab tests, and approved participation in a second round of litigation against social media companies; no related costs were stated. A presentation reviewed school assessment results and ongoing curriculum investments, but no new curriculum purchase was approved. The meeting also included routine reports and recognition of student achievements.
