# 2026-10-21 Liberty Hill Streetscape Presentation and Meeting

The City of North Charleston held a Liberty Hill streetscape presentation and community meeting on October 21–22, 2026. Officials presented proposed improvements to Montague Avenue, including landscaped medians, high-visibility crosswalks and pedestrian beacons, traffic-calming measures, neighborhood banners and street signs, and a uniform fence design. The project is planned in phases: undergrounding utility lines would be a later effort that depends on obtaining property easements and coordinating with Dominion. Staff said the streetscape would need to proceed through permitting and the city’s procurement process, including being put out to bid; no contract award or procurement vote occurred. An initial construction schedule of roughly 12–24 months was discussed, with moving dirt in six to eight months described as an aspiration.
