# City Utilities Advisory Committee Meeting, 10/22/2026

The City of Laredo Utilities Advisory Committee met on October 22, 2026. The committee received utility project updates, including pipe-bursting work nearing completion on Phase 1 and continuing on Chestnut, Fremont, and Blaine streets; Curry Street milling and paving scheduled for late October through November; and a planned valve replacement near Cerritos High School. A new chlorine dioxide unit was expected to be installed at the Jefferson water plant in early November to help address water odor and taste issues. These were updates rather than procurement awards or spending decisions made by the committee. The committee approved the prior meeting minutes by motion and vote.

Staff reported 116 smart iHydrants installed, 66 additional units on hand for installation, and another 150 approved by City Council and being ordered. The quoted price was approximately $6,200 per unit; no purchase vote or total contract amount was presented at this meeting. Members also discussed a possible Lake Casablanca dredging project and potential congressional funding, but no project authorization, funding decision, or procurement action was identified.
