# October 21, 2026 - Environmental Quality Commission

The City of Menlo Park Environmental Quality Commission met on October 21, 2026. The main item was an informational update on the FY 2025–26 Climate Action Plan, which staff will present to City Council on November 17; no action was requested on the report. Procurement- and funding-related work included staff reporting that an RFP had resulted in selection of nonprofit Canopy to plant at least 70 street trees in Belle Haven, and that an RFP for an urban forest management plan is forthcoming. The City also completed solar installations at several facilities through power purchase agreements with Westlight Energy and reported progress on EV-charging infrastructure and facility electrification. The presentation referenced nearly $2.3 million in grant funding associated with EV-charging work, $610,000 in Westlight incentives for 201 EV charging ports installed at multifamily properties during the fiscal year, and a $4.5 million California Energy Commission grant for community electrification; staff said the remaining grant funding has identified homes in its pipeline.

Commissioners discussed climate-plan goals, grant use, transparency of emissions data, and possible future building and transportation measures. Staff noted that $75,000 allocated to a program discussed during the meeting had been spent, and that additional electrification, EV-charging, and municipal facility projects are planned. No new procurement award or spending motion was made on the climate report. A motion and second were made to approve the September 16 meeting minutes, but the roll-call result is unclear in the transcript.
