# Pope County Committee Meeting - September 29, 2026

Pope County Quorum Court committee meeting, September 29, 2026: The treasurer reported September general-fund sales and use tax receipts of about $548,644, 4.04% above September 2025, and year-to-date revenues above projections across several funds. EMS revenue projections were increased by $600,000, bringing available funds from roughly $300,000 to about $900,000. The committee approved requests related to election expenses and a treasury employee’s accrued leave payout, as well as transfers between line items for jail maintenance and overtime. The sheriff’s office had paid the full software-maintenance agreement, freeing funds for needed jail maintenance. A new postal meter for the treasurer’s office was also noted for an upcoming meeting agenda.

Members discussed, but did not decide, a proposal to transfer an EMS transit ambulance—with about 82,696 miles and existing equipment—to the coroner’s office in January. The transaction would require the general fund to reimburse EMS; members asked that the proposal be added to Thursday’s agenda so it could be resolved before budgets are prepared. A replacement EMS transit vehicle and box ambulance are anticipated next year, and members also discussed whether a lower-cost cargo van might better suit the coroner’s needs. The county plans a consolidated budget hearing on November 4; property and casualty insurance costs were tentatively expected to rise about 10%.
