# 2026-10-22: HPCSD Board Of Education Meeting

The Hyde Park Central School District Board of Education met on October 22, 2026. Procurement and facilities items included capital-project change orders, including an electrical change order whose total contract value was described as increasing from about $638,000 to $727,000; the board approved the item. It also approved a change order for S&O Construction as part of Phase 3B. Officials said the district remained significantly under budget on the overall capital project and was processing final paperwork to meet state-aid reporting deadlines. The facilities committee is working with a playground vendor to redesign a proposal to fit the available budget. In response to school-safety concerns, the district reported that two new PA systems were included in this year’s budget, a large order for additional speakers and wiring had been placed, and it had received two quotes for middle-school fencing. Obsolete district vehicles are offered through an online auction, with the high bidder selected.

The superintendent also presented an enrollment study commissioned through an RFP; Dr. Haber and his organization were selected, and the full report was expected the following week. The preliminary analysis examined potential elementary attendance-zone changes affecting about 292 K–5 students, but officials emphasized that no changes had been decided and that community engagement would precede any recommendation. The board also heard that a $10,000 Regional Food Bank grant helps sustain the Family Resource Center. No procurement decision was made on the proposed attendance-zone changes or on the possible expansion of prekindergarten eligibility.
