# 09/09/2026 Planning Committee Meeting

The WUSD Board of Education Planning Committee met on September 9, 2026, to discuss board governance, strategic planning, superintendent evaluation, and academic outcomes. The committee agreed to recommend that the full board discuss and vote on beginning a process to develop a new strategic plan at its September meeting. Members also discussed adding superintendent evaluation discussions to monthly board meetings in closed session beginning in September, with frequency to be reconsidered as the process develops. Governance training with the School Boards for Academic Excellence (SBAE) was considered for an October retreat; the organization was described as offering some free services and resources.

The committee discussed a possible math and reading curriculum audit, but made no procurement decision or spending approval. Before further consideration, members want information on the audit’s cost, scope, timeline, expected recommendations, and whether other providers—such as the district’s CESA—offer comparable services and at what cost. They noted that some audit work might be supported by grant funds, while other providers may charge fees. A consultant to facilitate strategic planning was also raised as a possibility, without a selection or authorization. Aging facilities were mentioned as an ongoing planning concern, but no facilities contract, project award, or budget allocation was discussed.
