# 07/22/2026 Fiscal Management Committee Meeting

The WUSD Board of Education Fiscal Management Committee met on July 22, 2026. The committee reviewed a city-school district pool agreement amendment and repayment invoice, which staff said had been signed by the city; the committee agreed to send the agreement to the full board. It also received a summer construction update on the high school project managed by JP Cullen: wall framing and mechanical, electrical, and plumbing work were underway, with door delivery expected in late August. Staff reported the project remained on schedule. For waste and recycling services, the district had received proposals from Waste Management, Pellitteri, and GFL for a new three-year contract. The estimated cost was about $49,000 per year, compared with a $60,000 annual budget; the committee agreed to advance the recommendation to the board, but the transcript does not identify a selected vendor.

The committee agreed to advance several other items to the board: purchasing two 10-passenger vans (Ringwald reportedly submitted the lowest price; one van would be grant-funded for special education, and the other for general district use), the annual USI benefits-broker contract (about $65,673), and the Frontline absence and substitute-management service ($22,680). It also supported a proposed $100,000 transfer to Fund 46 for capital projects; a motion and second to send the transfer to the board were approved. Staff recommended keeping the Fund 80 levy at $300,000 while moving middle-school co-curriculars to that fund, subject to board action. The committee reviewed revised facility-rental language setting custodial service at $45 per hour with a two-hour minimum, and discussed a new purchasing procedure requiring Amazon orders to receive building-administrator review and finance review. The budget discussion noted an estimated 3.1% decline in equalization aid and continued pressure to reduce expenditures.
