# 8/27/26 Health, Welfare and Recreation (HWR) Committee

The Coffee County, Tennessee, Health, Welfare and Recreation Committee met on August 27, 2026. Kenny Rescue Squad reported receiving a $90,000 state governor’s grant, with equipment expected to include Hurst hydraulic extrication tools, airbags, rams, and about $18,000 in rappelling equipment. The squad also described its drone and firefighter-rehabilitation response work and discussed a possible future building expansion, but no county purchase or expansion approval was made at this meeting.

Members discussed a proposed additional $15,000 contribution toward a water-line project on J.E. Short Road; the amount would require approval by the full County Commission, and the discussion referenced an estimated cost in the $60,000 range for six-inch water lines. They also noted that $3,500 in tourism funds previously approved for courthouse Christmas decorations had not yet been sent and discussed following through. No procurement-related vote was taken during this meeting; the recorded vote approved a logo change.
