# 9/2/26 Highway Commission

The Coffee County Highway Commission held its September 2, 2026 meeting. Members amended the agenda to include officer elections, then approved the chair and Arliss as secretary for the next year and approved the prior meeting’s minutes. Highway staff reported ongoing roadside mowing delays due to hot weather, storm cleanup, staff illness and injury, and a tractor sensor problem. Crews had completed work on Tellico Creek and Shelton Town roads and planned to work on Floyd Road; paving was also pending better weather.

Members discussed heavy gravel and concrete truck traffic on local roads and possible increased traffic during bridge construction and nearby development, including around Little Mountain Road and Asbury Road. Staff said they had limited authority to restrict legal traffic but would raise the concern where possible. No contract awards, purchasing decisions, budget allocations, or other procurement activity were identified. The next meeting was scheduled for October 7, 2026.
