# Student Support Services Committee Meeting 10/12/26

The School District of Menomonee Falls Student Support Services Committee met on October 12, 2026, for an annual safety and security walkthrough update. Staff described reviews of district buildings with school administrators and law enforcement, including completed fixes and planned work involving AED placement and signage, door and room numbering, access controls, fencing, lighting, communications equipment, and student drop-off areas. A localized vendor supplied special-education walkie-talkies at substantially better pricing than the previous arrangement. The district is also evaluating district-wide HID door readers and has received quotes, but reported that prices are changing; no vendor selection or contract award was made at this meeting.

Larger prospective costs include finalizing drop-off improvements at Valley View and Riverside and establishing a replacement schedule for more than 500 aging cameras. The district is considering a cost-sharing contribution from its Fund 80 balance for safety improvements at Shady Lane, and is awaiting results on grant applications that could support safety certifications and alert-management work. The committee took no procurement-related vote or spending action; the safety update is to inform a later closed-session review of building safety plans and sensitive security matters.
