# Finance and Personnel Committee Meeting 10/20/26

The School District of Menomonee Falls Finance and Personnel Committee met on October 20, 2026. The committee received an update on mold and humidity issues at Ben Franklin Elementary. A water leak and high building humidity led to remediation in the affected wing, cleaning of additional areas, and deployment of about 60 rented dehumidifiers. The district projected total response costs of approximately $250,000, with some contractor invoices still pending; Robinson Brothers performed recent cleaning, and PNC reports were referenced. Staff are working with a controls contractor on humidity-management changes, including control-system adjustments and monitoring. Members also discussed the aging HVAC system and possible future improvements, but no equipment purchase or contract award was approved. The district currently has six dehumidifiers and discussed whether additional units might be useful; an estimated purchase cost of about $3,000 per unit was mentioned.

The committee reviewed the 2026–27 budget and monthly financial reports. Revenue-limit authority was reported at about $51.57 million, up 2.9% from the prior year; the projected mill rate was $6.22, down 13 cents. Increased interest earnings reduced planned use of one-time reserves to approximately $1.5 million. The committee also reviewed proposed handbook clarifications, with no substantive changes described. Minutes from the August 25 meeting were approved, and the committee adjourned. No procurement award or spending-related motion was identified.
