# FSD School Board Meeting - October 2026

The Franklin Special District Board of Education met on October 20, 2026. Procurement-related discussion focused on the district’s upcoming social studies textbook adoption: a committee of teachers, administrators, and parents will review materials, ask vendors questions, and gather school and community feedback. The committee is expected to recommend textbooks in April or May 2027; no selection or purchase was approved at this meeting. The board also heard that Freedom Intermediate School’s computer science teacher received a $5,000 TVA STEM robotics award to expand student robotics opportunities. The finance report noted that revenue was slightly ahead of projections, but the district is monitoring cash flow and may seek approval in November to increase its tax anticipation note to cover January payroll if property-tax receipts do not arrive in time.

The board appointed Amy Potts to fill a vacant seat through the 2028 election and approved the 2026–27 TISA Accountability Report. It also approved first-reading revisions to several policies to comply with Public Chapter 938, effective January 1, 2027, waiving second readings as requested. Other reports covered school safety, a required remote-learning drill, and district events; no contract award or vendor selection was made.
