# WCSD BOE October 12, 2026 Monthly Meeting

The Waunakee School District Board of Education’s monthly meeting on October 12, 2026, included two approved purchasing decisions. The board approved pre-purchasing 80% of expected natural-gas use for November 2026 through October 2027; the district reported saving more than $30,000 on natural-gas costs in the prior year. It also approved One Community Bank’s proposal for district banking services following a five-year solicitation that received proposals from three banks. The proposal maintains the existing interest-rate structure and no-fee service, and adds a commitment of $10,000 per year for five years to the district’s student financial assistance fund. District policy requires financial institutions within district boundaries to be invited to bid every five years.

The board also approved a facilities-related proposal involving McKinstry to assess district HVAC systems and maintenance needs, support longer-term asset planning, and evaluate work the district might perform internally. The discussion indicated that HVAC services would be bid after the assessment, before the current agreement ends in summer 2027. Separately, the board heard public comments requesting limits and greater transparency around student screen and AI use, but took no action on those requests. Other discussion covered the upcoming school referendum, enrollment and assessment results, and academic improvement goals.
