# Community Meeting 09.28.2026

Washington County, Tennessee Board of Education community listening session, September 29, 2026: District officials gathered public input on whether to retain the current K–8 arrangement or consider a PreK–5 and 6–8 model. Ridgeview and Grandview were identified as potential 6–8 campuses based on geography, capacity, and facility readiness, but officials emphasized that no decision had been made. Discussion covered academic and social outcomes, student transitions, teacher support, class sizes, staffing, transportation, school zoning, athletics, and school identity. Community members raised concerns about the potential upfront costs of adapting elementary facilities—including bathrooms—and the feasibility of additional staffing and bus service. District staff said they would develop more detailed operational information, including cost estimates and transportation scenarios, to inform the public and board before deliberation.

No contract awards, bids, purchases, budget allocations, or votes were identified, and no action was to be taken at this or the other listening sessions. The district said it would publish a consolidated summary of community feedback by October 15 and provide it to the full board before determining the next stage of the study. Any future decision would occur at a properly noticed public meeting.
