# Community Meeting 09.16.2026

The Washington County, Tennessee Board of Education held a community listening session on September 16, 2026, about a potential change from the district’s K–8 structure to eight preK–5 schools and two 6–8 middle schools. Officials emphasized that no decision had been made and no vote was scheduled. Ridge View and Grand View were discussed as possible middle-school sites based on their facilities and capacity, but neither was selected. The superintendent cited student programming and support, age-appropriate learning environments, staffing and resource use, and preparation for high school as topics under study.

Participants raised questions about bus routes and driver conditions, student reassignment and transitions, enrollment and building capacity, staffing ratios, and possible renovation or other costs—and whether those costs could affect work needed at older schools. The district said further operational and financial analysis and additional community input would be needed; enrollment and capacity information is publicly available and will be made easier to find through an online engagement hub. The board took no vote and approved no spending, contract, or procurement action; no vendor or contract was identified.
