# U.S.–Zambia Promote Strategic Projects

On March 30, 2023, the United States and Zambia signed a nonbinding memorandum of understanding to promote U.S. private-sector participation in Zambian projects spanning agriculture, energy, mining, manufacturing, healthcare, digital services, tourism, education, and transportation. The MOU encourages transparent, sustainable procurement and identifies potential U.S. agency support and financing channels, but it creates no funding obligation, award guarantee, or procurement commitment. Businesses must negotiate commercial terms directly with the Zambian government where applicable; activities are intended to continue for five years, through March 30, 2028.
