# 10/19/26 Golf Commission

The Town of Fairfield Golf Commission met on October 19, 2026. The commission heard that a $650,000 driving-range netting project had received approval from the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance and was awaiting RTM consideration that evening, with a vote anticipated the following Monday. Contract negotiations were underway in anticipation of approval. A separate bunker project request was not well received by the financial boards and was referred to the capital 10-year plan; the transcript mentions $350,000 in connection with that plan, but the amount is unclear. The commission also heard that year-to-date play was down by about 3,000 rounds, primarily due to weather.

Members discussed resident access to tee times and the share of non-residents in golf leagues, but took no action to change league membership or tee-time policies. The commission voted to support action, at the club pro’s discretion, concerning a prior on-course fight; members noted that a process for future rule enforcement should be established. Staff also announced that cash payments for greens fees, carts, and related services would no longer be accepted beginning December 1. Other discussion covered course conditions and golf-cart speakers; no additional purchasing decisions were identified.
