# 10/20/26 Fairfield Arts Commission

The Fairfield Arts Commission met on October 20, 2026, and discussed public-art projects and community engagement. The Public Art Working Group reviewed submissions for a utility-cabinet project with Harry’s Corner LLC; participating artists will receive a $250 stipend for design submissions. A call for artists for another utility-cabinet project is expected to close around November 18 or 19, with selection, permitting, and installation planned for spring. The commission also noted that the project’s commitment is to purchase materials and supplies, and discussed continuing sponsored utility-cabinet artwork and decorative fire-hydrant painting. No contract award or procurement vote was reported. Separately, a motion to establish a drafting committee for the Public Art Fund had been read at the RTM, with an RTM vote expected the following Monday.

Members also discussed rebuilding the Artistic Vision Challenge committee, recruiting schools and other arts programs, and possibly naming the challenge for Samuel Art Goldstein. They reviewed plans for artist and business outreach following a successful Story Lab event, considered resuming arts mixers, and shared information about an upcoming music-in-context event. No other spending decisions or formal procurement actions were identified.
