# Special Annual Town Meeting 10/20/2026

North Haven’s annual town meeting, held October 20, 2026, approved all seven agenda items. The first vote authorized $994,382.29 in transfers among fiscal year 2025–26 budget lines, including building repairs and utilities, employee insurance, workers’ compensation, road overtime, and streetlight, water, and fire-protection utilities. Officials said the town would still have an approximately $337,000 year-end surplus. The meeting also approved an ordinance expanding property-tax dwelling exemptions for certain veterans and surviving spouses of service members killed in action; discussion noted that the exemption does not cover the land.

The meeting approved several capital appropriations and related bond or note authorizations: $7 million for Sackett Point Road reconstruction, $2 million for Church Street pedestrian safety improvements, $3 million for Pool Road drainage, $7 million for town-road paving and drainage, and $800,000 for a pedestrian and bicycle connectivity project. Officials said the first, second, third, and fifth projects were expected to receive full construction-cost reimbursement through state programs, while the paving project would be town-funded. Paving locations will be determined after bids establish costs; no vendors or contracts were selected at this meeting. Public comment raised questions about project costs, prior authorizations, reimbursements, and the need for regular project updates.
