# Michigan City Port Authority Commission October 19, 2026

The Michigan City Port Authority Commission met on October 19, 2026. Commissioners approved payment of $60,166.44 in bills, including utility, security, paint, and other operating expenses. They also approved marina rate increases for the coming season at Washington Park and the facilities discussed as Spring Point and Trail Creek; the discussion cited a combined increase of $114,100. The proposed budget was not voted on and will be revisited after further review. Budget discussion included a 4% increase for full-time employee wages, higher utility and operating costs, and the need to build up capital funds for future projects.

Port staff reported that the north side of the lighthouse pier work had reached substantial completion, with minor punch-list items remaining. The work included new sheet pile, backfill, a new concrete top, and repairs to wave breakers; no contract amount was stated. For the outer breakwater, about 1,300 tons of armor stone had been added using funds remaining from another project, and staff said preparations for a further contract were about 90% complete, with no value or award reported. Staff also discussed a shoal in the harbor and potential draft concerns. A clock-related matter was tabled pending a vendor/electrician response and cost information.
