# Community Development Committee Meeting

At its October 20, 2026 Community Development Committee meeting, the New Orleans City Council approved a three-year agreement between the city’s workforce development board and Job One, described as required for federal grants and having no general fund impact. The committee also adopted, by a 4–0 vote, proposed changes to address large items obstructing streets and sidewalks, including dumpsters, storage containers, and construction equipment. The proposal expands permit requirements, assigns DPW a clearer role in handling 311 reports, and authorizes NOPD citation enforcement. It raises permit application fees from $40 to $80 and daily fees from $10 to $20, adds a $500 violation fine, and applies towing and storage rates set by the Louisiana Public Service Commission. Staff will assess whether towing and storage should be handled in-house or contracted to a vendor; no vendor or contract award was approved.
