# Commission Meeting - 10/20/2026

The City of Enid Commission’s regular meeting was held October 20, 2026. The Commission approved consent items except item 6.2, then separately approved item 6.2 concerning a sinkhole on an older airport taxiway. Staff said the work would investigate and address a failed drainage line; it would use unused quantities in the existing Firebrand contract, with 50% of the work covered by excess funds from the DCIP project. Staff noted the final repair scope and cost would depend on what is found after the concrete is opened. The Commission also approved claims of $233,446.33 for the Enid Municipal Authority and $8,944.95 for the Enid Public Transportation Authority. No new contract award or increase to the Firebrand contract amount was reported.

The quarterly Vance Development Authority update covered infrastructure and quality-of-life projects, including construction of a safe room at Eisenhower Elementary, an engineering-design earmark for a squadron operations facility, and preliminary work toward replacing 258 officer dorms in coordination with Northern Oklahoma College. These efforts involve federal, state, and community funding, but no new spending authorization was requested from the Commission. Finance staff reported FY2026 sales-tax collections of $40.5 million, up 2% year over year, while first-quarter FY2027 collections were down 5.9% from the comparable period and about $126,000 behind budget to date; commissioners discussed the potential need to restrain department spending if the trend continues. The Commission also approved, with an amendment, the resolution setting the 2027 municipal election schedule and made appointments to community boards, including the CDBG Funding Commission.
