# Albuquerque City Council Meeting - October 19, 2026

The Albuquerque City Council’s October 19, 2026 meeting included several funding and project actions. Council unanimously approved R-73, adding $4.725 million in grant appropriations and new capital projects, including state-funded projects and amendments for APD facilities and a soccer facility funded with 2021 general obligation bond proceeds. It also approved a $100,000 local economic development loan for Sichler Farms LLC to expand year-round chile and produce processing; the agreement is to include a 100% clawback if operations cease during the five-year project. Council approved the city’s participation in a lease agreement between Bernalillo County and Uptown Connect Apartments LLP. R-69, an opioid settlement funds appropriation that included $2 million for connections to behavioral health services, passed unanimously after debate over Gateway Center funding and Albuquerque Public Schools’ Crossroads program; a proposed amendment to reduce APS funding was withdrawn.

Council also approved an ordinance changing development-application appeal fees, passing 5–4; the fee structure includes a $1,000 fee for appeals of approved applications and a $300 fee for appeals of denied applications, with hardship-related waivers. A resolution concerning dedication of state capital outlay funds was withdrawn. Separately, officials said the New Mexico Department of Transportation had ended the city’s longstanding interstate cleanup contract; the city is tracking complaints through 311 and forwarding them to the state during the transition. No contract award or replacement procurement was identified for that work.
