At the October 21, 2026 Cowlitz County Commissioners meeting, the board approved the consent agenda, including a call for proposals for groundwater and surface-water monitoring at county-owned municipal solid-waste facilities, with proposals due at 3 p.m. November 18, 2026. The agenda also included labor agreements allowing voluntary furloughs for represented employees through 2026–27, an emergency line-repair agreement associated with Resolution 26-012, and vouchers totaling $3,060,899.51; the consent agenda passed. The commissioners separately approved an updated county cash-handling policy, replacing Resolution 18-051, with revised procedures for counterfeit currency and bank reconciliations.

The board held a public hearing and approved materials to close out and apply for a federal CDBG public-services grant, which supports programs such as Meals on Wheels through Lower Columbia CAP; the grant contract is expected to return for signature. A program update on the state-funded homelessness-prevention grant reported that approximately $752,000 had gone toward rental arrears and related assistance as of September 2026, but no new contract award was made during that discussion. The board also approved a Red Ribbon Week proclamation and appointments to the Board of Health.
