# October 20th, 2026 Election Commission Meeting

The Northampton County Election Commission meeting was held October 20, 2026. The commission approved the September 1 minutes. Public commenters discussed Project HALO’s request to place nonpartisan greeters outside selected polling places, concerns about possible voter intimidation, and reported problems with long lines, voting machines, and electronic poll books. Election staff said they plan to deploy 307 voting machines, keep 12 in reserve, and can send additional machines to polling places if needed. Staff also described voter-registration and mail-ballot deadlines, drop-box locations, poll-worker training, and procedures for voters whose names do not appear in poll books. The solicitor reviewed the 10-foot electioneering restriction and related legal considerations; staff said judges should call 911 and then the elections office if law enforcement presence raises concerns at a polling place.

On procurement, staff reported that the previously approved folder-inserter machine will not arrive in time for this election. Ballots were prepared manually with additional checks, and installation and training are planned after the election for use in the next primary; no contract amount or vendor was identified, and no new procurement vote was taken. The commission also discussed drafting bylaws and scheduling additional meetings. No other contract awards, bid approvals, or spending decisions were identified.
