# KC Transportation Committee October 20 2026

Kane County Transportation Committee meeting, October 20, 2026: Staff described transportation fund balances of about $191 million, noting that the funds are already committed, including $97–98 million in active contracts and about $55 million in ongoing service, equipment, engineering, and land-acquisition contracts. The budget process removed 19 projects to remain fiscally constrained, but a funding gap remains for maintenance and safety work. The committee approved annual motor-fuel-tax appropriations and FY27 purchases through Sourcewell, estimated at $80,000 for vehicles and $25,000 for equipment. It also approved three truck body-and-equipment packages, with a total request of $627,828.78, and renewal of Bid 25-026-TL for fuel deliveries; the fuel contract sets delivery charges and supply priority, not fuel prices.

The committee approved a transit-access agreement for Randall Road improvements, with $532,800 from NITA and a $59,200 county match, and a separate safety-improvement agreement with $1.5 million in federal funding and a county share of just over $2 million. It approved a $250,000 one-time payment to Campton Hills for future maintenance as La Fox Road is transferred to the village, and approved $62,000 for property acquisition following executive session. Two Kimley-Horn Plank Road engineering agreements were extended without additional appropriations—by five years to January 2032 and three years to January 2030. Staff also reported nearly $20 million above the annual funding mark for the Kane-Kendall Council of Mayors’ program; an impact-fee update is expected to return for committee recommendation next month. A delayed fiber-optic project may have contract consequences, which staff said it would review.
