# Raleigh Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission - October 19, 2026

The City of Raleigh Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission met on October 19, 2026. Transportation staff presented the proposed 2026 bond referendum, which will appear as separate housing and transportation questions on the November 3 ballot. The two measures total approximately $203 million, with $101.5 million proposed for transportation; staff described them as requiring no tax increase. The planned transportation allocation includes $51.5 million for road infrastructure, $40 million for adopted plans such as the Active Mobility Plan and Comprehensive Safety Action Plan, and $10 million for neighborhood traffic management and partnerships. Named projects include Marsh Creek Road and Treywick Road West (estimated at $38.5 million), Ebenezer Church Road (about $8 million), and non-federally eligible improvements for the Southern BRT corridor (about $5 million). These were presented as intended allocations if voters approve the bond, not as contract awards or spending approvals by the commission.

Staff also reported on mobility projects completed, under contract, in design, and planned for 2027. They described testing design-build and other alternate-delivery approaches on a multi-use path and five sidewalk projects to overlap design and construction work and potentially speed delivery; no vendors or contract amounts were identified. In response to concerns about past project delays and cost escalation, staff said they are advancing project planning and may separate design funding from construction funding across future bond cycles. The commission accepted its prior meeting minutes and discussed a possible change to its meeting time, to be considered formally at the next meeting. No procurement award or bond-related vote was taken.
