# Finance - October 19, 2026

The City of Solon Finance Committee met October 19, 2026. Members approved the September 22 meeting minutes and voted to prepare legislation, for first reading under emergency, authorizing payment under two “then and now” certificates: one for the Solon Board of Education and one for Johnson Controls Fire Protection. The monthly purchasing report listed three items above the $10,000 threshold; the finance director said all had already been approved through legislation. No new contract awards, vendor selections, or bid approvals were reported, and no dollar amounts for these items were stated.

The committee reviewed income-tax collections and the monthly financial summary. The finance director said revenue was tracking near expectations compared with 2025 but remained below budget, consistent with prior forecasts, and noted that 2027 budget estimates would be more conservative. The mayor reported that an area factory was expected to eliminate about 370 jobs in 2027 and close its building by year-end; staff will assess possible effects on income-tax revenue and sewer-fund receipts and provide information for budget discussions. The committee scheduled operating-budget hearings for November 16 at 5:30 p.m. and capital-budget hearings for November 30 at 5:30 p.m., with relevant department directors invited to participate.
