# Michigan Advances BEAD Broadband Projects

Michigan has signed 23 subgrant agreements through the federal Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) program, advancing projects toward permitting and construction preparation. The agreements combine **$1.447 billion**—$916 million in federal funds and $531 million in private matching funds—to extend broadband access to nearly 200,000 homes, businesses, and community anchor institutions. Awardees can now complete pre-construction requirements; each project has four years to complete after its agreement is executed. Five additional subgrantees have been provisionally selected, with their agreements anticipated after the initial signings.

- Broadband contractors and suppliers can assess project-level construction and supporting work as awardees complete permitting and other pre-construction steps; the signals do not identify specific solicitations or open bids.
- The five provisionally selected agreements may expand the pipeline of Michigan BEAD projects as those agreements are executed.
- Companies planning to pursue project work should account for the four-year completion period that begins when each project agreement is executed.
