# Preservation Commission 10/16/2024

The City of Sacramento Preservation Commission met on October 16, 2024. The commission approved its September minutes and adopted staff’s recommendation to amend the R Street Historic District boundary and resource classifications. The changes would add 1117 R Street and 1200 R Street as contributing resources and reclassify 1730 12th Street as non-contributing. Commissioners also recommended that City Council list two properties as landmarks on the Sacramento Register of Historic and Cultural Resources; that motion passed. No contracts, purchases, or spending actions were identified.

The commission reviewed its draft 2024 annual report, which noted 11 historic district or landmark nominations and updates during the year, and received a presentation on the second draft of Sacramento’s LGBTQ+ Historic Experience Project. The project includes a historic context statement, a proposed Lavender Heights historic district, and five individual landmark nominations. Commissioners offered comments for consideration in the final draft, which staff plans to bring back for a recommendation. No budget allocations or other procurement activity were discussed.
