# Historic Preservation Commission - October 16, 2026 - Special Meeting

The Oklahoma City Historic Preservation Commission held a special meeting on October 16, 2026. No contracts, vendor selections, bid approvals, or new procurement spending were identified. Staff noted that the city uses annual grant funding from the National Park Service and State Historic Preservation Office, among other purposes, to prepare National Register nominations; the commission’s action concerned the Farmers Market District nomination, recommending it to the relevant city, state, and federal bodies and adopting the accompanying resolution. Discussion noted that qualifying properties may become eligible for historic tax credits, while the National Register listing itself adds no restrictions beyond existing local design review. The commission also approved staff’s recommendation on a dilapidated detached garage and adopted the 2027 meeting and workshop schedules. A city ordinance changing commission membership from nine to seven was reported as approved by City Council, effective in March 2027.

The commission approved several certificates of appropriateness, generally with staff conditions, including garage construction at 817 NW 19th Street, site work at 240 NW 34th Street, a guideline-compliant garage door replacement at 631 NW 16th Street, and work at 529 NW 40th Street subject to redesign of the front porch roof. Other construction and demolition applications were continued, chiefly to allow applicants to provide additional design, site, materials, or structural documentation. The commission also recommended approval of a home-sharing application and a rezoning request at 624 NW 25th Street, with conditions. These were land-use and preservation decisions rather than procurement actions.
