# Issaquah Equity Board Meeting - October 7, 2026

The City of Issaquah Equity Board met on October 7, 2026. Staff reported on the equity impact assessment: the community survey received 271 responses, and recruitment is underway for a community workshop group to draft equity goals. The next phases include City Council review of the goals and development of an equity assessment tool with consultant support; staff previously brought a draft RFP to the Board and included Board members on the consultant selection committee, but no new procurement decision or contract amount was presented. Members discussed whether project funds or an existing rebate program could help workshop participants with childcare, transportation, or other participation costs, and whether interpretation could be provided; no funding decision was made.

Staff also presented the mayor’s proposal to combine the Equity Board and Human Services Commission into a new advisory body. The combined body would continue advising on equity and city programs and support recommendations for more than $650,000 in annual nonprofit service grants. Members raised concerns about preserving equity’s citywide focus, representation of historically underrepresented communities, and meaningful input; several were cautiously supportive of further planning. A six-member joint subcommittee is expected to develop a scope, membership plan, and code language for Board and Commission review, with proposed changes potentially going to City Council by May. No spending or procurement votes were taken.
