# October 15, 2026 Board Meeting

The Douglas County School District Board meeting on October 15, 2026, included several procurement- and budget-related matters. The board unanimously approved the pulled voucher item (3B), after staff explained that approximately $43,000 in greenhouse labor and transportation and about $47,000 for the greenhouse were funded by a competitive grant for Douglas High School; $17,389 in iPads was purchased by a school site and reimbursed through a Title grant. Trustees also asked about an $11,050 Lexia Learning subscription and apparent duplicate charges, though the transcript does not preserve a complete response on those questions. Minden Elementary reported that it had spent or allocated more than $135,000 in Title I funds for instructional materials, curriculum and licenses, and two interventionists. The board unanimously sanctioned boys’ and girls’ lacrosse; the boys’ program reported raising more than $20,000 and having funding for at least its first year, and administration said the state’s taxation officials had no objection if the program’s costs were covered by outside revenue and donations. The meeting also noted a donated Ford F-150 valued at $4,500 for the high school automotive program and additional school and athletics donations.

The board reviewed a forecast of roughly $2 million in year-end deficit and discussed rebuilding the statutory 4% ending fund balance; trustees unanimously directed the finance officer to seek guidance from the Local Government Finance Committee and Department of Taxation. The first-quarter cash report was accepted unanimously, subject to confirmation against bank and investment statements. A personal technology and communication devices policy was approved unanimously, with implementation planned for the second semester, around mid-January. Other facilities-related discussion included a school playground identified as a priority and tennis and pickleball courts remaining in the county parks capital plan without funding; no related purchase or construction award was made.
