# FERC Proposes Faster LNG Project Reviews

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proposed changes that could shorten review timelines for U.S. LNG export terminal expansions by limiting certain notice and protest periods to 60 or 90 days. Separately, FERC proposed changing its environmental review of Natural Gas Act projects by ending requests for applicant-provided air-dispersion modeling and relying on other information in NEPA documents. These are proposed changes, not final requirements. Interested parties may comment on implementation of the draft policy statement by **November 16, 2026**, under Docket No. PL26-3-000.

- LNG project applicants and contractors supporting permitting, environmental studies, and project development should assess how the proposed review approach could affect application preparation, schedules, and environmental work scopes.
- Organizations with relevant project or technical experience can submit comments on the draft policy statement by November 16, 2026; the docket is PL26-3-000.
- Because the changes remain proposals, companies should distinguish the draft approach from current review requirements when planning ongoing applications.
